Designed for dance…

Most of the tunes I play are traditional fiddle tunes that have been arranged for contra-dancing. Each tune starts with a daydream, like what instruments would be fun to play with this tune, and how could this tune be as dance-able as possible.

Tunes

The set list features fiddle tunes I think of as mid-western, New England, French Canadian or Irish fiddle. Some arrangements are pretty traditional, and some are not.

If you have a dance in mind that you want to feature, contact me and we can find the perfect set of tunes to pair with it.

If you want to include a Hambo, Schottische, Polka, waltzing circle mixer, broom dance, or any dance that might be a bit unusual a head’s up before the dance would be appreciated.

Sound System

In most situations Little Big Band will connect to your P.A. with: a single XLR microphone input (violin), a 1/4 inch TRS line input (guitar), and two 1/4 TRS line inputs (panned left and right) for the computer.

Alternatively we can give you a stereo 1/4 inch TRS cable that would plug into two line level inputs with the violin, guitar and computer. You would get the same mix that you can hear on the demonstration videos that are available.

We use in ear monitors and headphones and run our own monitor mix, which means you don’t need to set up your band monitors or mix the monitors for us.

Special considerations

Most dances are held in rooms with electricity and have heating and cooling. If this does not describe what you are planning we should talk. If you have an outdoor event planned we will need to discuss the venue.
