Wedding Music

I’m largely a self taught fiddle player, so I’m reluctant to present myself as a ‘violin’ player. However I enjoy playing music that would generally be outside of a ‘fiddler’s’ repertoire. When I’m asked to play a wedding I generally suggest music I learned as a church organist unless someone wants fiddle tunes.

  1. Aria “Gedenke doch, mein Geist, zurücke” BWV 509. Click here to view on Youtube.

This ARIA from Anna Magdalena Bach’s Notebook is often found in lists of popular classical music for weddings. I think it is a wonderful choice as incidental music

Music that I like to play (but don’t have a video to share) include: Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus”, Marcello’s Psalm 19 “The Heavens Declare”, Bach “Wachet auf,” BWV 140 (Sleeper’s awake), Aria BWV 509, “Bist du bei mir” from Notebook for Anna Magdalenna Bach and Purcell “Trumpet Tune” to name a few.

I’ve also played contemporary music that some people prefer.
